What to bring on the day:  The most important thing to remember is your Lunch, UK driving licence & national insurance number.  Without this you cannot complete the course and will not be issued with a certificate (DL196).  If you have a European licence, you will need to exchange this for a UK licence to take the CBT.  If you have any of your own kit you are welcome to bring it, but it must meet the necessary standards and be in good repair.

Here are a few useful things you need to know about the CBT Certificate:

  • It is valid for 2 years.
  • It entitles you to ride on the road unaccompanied while displaying L Plates.
  • Your CBT certificate does not allow you to carry pillion passengers or ride on motorways.
  • You will need to re-take the CBT if you do not pass both the theory and practical tests before the CBT Certificate expires.
  • A full car licence gives you provisional motorcycle entitlement although you must check that this is visible on your licence.  You need to ensure that it shows Category A provisional motorcycle entitlement on your licence.

The CBT course lasts a day, there is no guaranteed pass as it will depend on a individuals ability so further Training may be required for those who need extra time.

Step 3: Module 1 Test £117.50 including test fee (£15.50)

Step 4: Module 2 Test £171 including test fee (£75.00)

Overview:
The practical motorcycle test is taken in two parts.  Module 1 is a series of set manoeuvres and module 2 the the road riding session.

Module 1 - Manoeuvres
We have a large off road training area on which we are able to replicate the module one test layout.  The module one test itself takes place at the Test Centre in Kings Lynn.  A course is laid out to enable the examiner to test all the manoeuvres you have practiced at our training area.  You will have plenty of time to familiarise yourself with the layout of the test and practice the required skills.

Module 2 - Road Riding
This part of the test takes place on road with the DSA examiner following behind and giving instructions via a radio headset.  You will ride the same power bike you have been using for your training and module one test.  This is an assessment of your ability to use the public roads safely.    The U-turn and emergency stop are now conducted during the module one test, which means the module two road test is not disrupted by these set piece manoeuvres.  As a consequence most people have found the module two test easier than in the past.

Before you can start your motorcycle full licence training you must have completed a CBT course  & theory test within the last two years. These certificates must not run out before you have successfully completed both module one and module two.
